She quit ever so briefly
She quit I think chiefly
Because I gave up the booze.
I quit comin' home late
Smellin' of whiskey
With vomit and puke on my shoes.
I quit leavin' her home 'lone
Drownin' in her tears
I quit being a public disgrace.
So she quit singin' that country
Our lives became tear-free
But now she's got smears on her face . .
