"Gluttonous Czar"
"A vote for the scandal-plagued Hillary is a resounding ratification of business as usual–the corrupt marriage of big money and machine politics, practiced by the Clintons with the zest of Boss Tweed, the gluttonous czar of New York’s ruthless Tammany Hall in the 1870s."

Woman Stabs Boyfriend
| Joanna Dennehy who stabbed three men in the heart for fun |
This trend should be sufficiently troubling to the guys out there that if you're in a relationship with a female who appears capable of violence, you'd better run and run quickly.
If, meantime, you're a someone who's bought the whole man-bad-woman-good feminist take on domestic violence . . well . . sorry you've been fooled (again).

"Some Nefarious Truth"?
![]() |
| The new Renée? |
Hollywood actresses regularly get their faces worked on. It's much rarer that they don't. And Hollywood actresses deny they've had plastic surgery all the time. The new Renee tosses it all off to aging and a changed mood.*
Okay, but what about fixing one's face could possibly be "nefarious"?
Plastic surgeons looking at her "radically changed face" think it required a bit more than time and better living, listing out the cosmetic procedures she likely had.
When did it all occur? Wouldn't this be done in phases, with periods of recuperation? They don't talk about any such schedule. Who performed the work? Where? Client-patient privilege will likely protect that information.
The face looks too elongated. The neck area, hands, and legs look older. What I've seen of any teeth on the new Renée appear to be caps. Plastic surgery experts don't mention these changes at all. Why have plastic surgery done that makes you appear older? Why have plastic surgery that makes you look like an entirely different person?
Especially for a Hollywood actress, such work is arranged to revive a youthful look. And with everything riding on your look—fame, fans, finances, future—why change it radically? You're not even the same celebrity (or person) if you do. You lose your career.
Perhaps there is "some nefarious truth" underlying all this suspicious activity. Something actually wicked or criminal, as the word suggests. Who was trying to get at such a wicked truth? Press on her porch? Or was this going on in her head.
Perhaps the lady doth protest too much.
Can forensic analysis now be done on before-and-after photos to see if this truly is the Renée Zellweger we know and love?
NOTE: This could all be a publicity stunt/hoax to get people to see her new movie (or to revive her career). Scheduled for release in 2015, we should all know soon enough what Renée looks like in The Whole Truth. Perhaps the title is prophetic, too.
*Others suggest it might be just bad makeup.

'Poet Boss' Nabbed
| Camorra boss Aldo Gionta arrested in Pozzallo, Italy |
and eloquent notes to his son earned him the nickname 'the poet boss'.
Gionta, fugitive boss of a Naples Camorra mafia clan, was cornered by plain clothes police at the Sicilian port of Pozzallo as he tried to board a ferry for Malta using false papers. The 42-year-old son of revered boss Valentino Gionta, Aldo was believed to have risen to prominence while his father served hard time.
While on the run, Gionta wore wigs and dressed in women's clothing to avoid capture, leading one investigator to claim "Camorra mobsters aren't what they used to be." Earlier in his career the crime chief earned a reputation as a 'poet' thanks to secret notes he wrote his son from a jail cell, though hardly the stuff of classic verse. ("Learn to shoot with a machine gun, shotgun and Kalashnikov" read a note seized by
investigators.)
His lyrical reputation was garnished when Tony Marciano, a Naples singer*, used some of Gionta's messages in the lyrics to his song 'Nun ciamm arrennere' (We Must Not Surrender) which criticizes
mafiosi who talk to the police.

*Marciano was a staple of the Naples Neomelodic scene, crooners who sing passionate love songs in the Neopolitan dialect.

Parrot Solves Murder in India
A talking parrot helped police in India identify the killer of a woman and her dog. The 45-year-old woman and her pet were found murdered at her residence in the western Indian city of Agra in Uttar Pradesh state.
The victim's husband, Vijay Sharma, is editor of a Hindi daily. The parrot showed a change in behavior whenever his nephew Ashutosh visited the house after the incident: ". . whenever Ashutosh's name was mentioned, the parrot would start screeching. This raised my suspicion and I informed the police," Sharma told the Times of India.
"We checked his call details and took him in custody," said the city's senior superintendent of police, Shalabh Mathur. "He accepted his crime . ."
Ashutosh, who entered with an accomplice with the intention of stealing cash and valuables, stabbed his aunt so she wouldn't recognize him. He stabbed her dog when it started barking. He failed to notice the parrot who was silently watching the whole thing.

Russia’s reputed top criminal boss killed
MOSCOW--Aslan Usoyan, Russia’s top criminal boss was shot dead by a sniper in broad daylight in the center of Moscow on Wednesday, in what law enforcement officials said was a dispute with a rival Georgian gang.
Usoyan, who went by the nickname “Grandpa Hasan”, was leaving the Karetniy dvor (Carriage House) - which he used as his "office" - when an assassin opened fire with a rifle from a stairwell of a building across the street. He was hit with a single shot to the head, dying a few minutes later at the same hospital where his life was saved after he was shot in a similar 2010 attack.
Usoyan was an ethnic Kurd of the Yezidi faith who hailed from Tbilisi, the Georgian capital. He was the highest-ranking vor v zakone – literally “thief in law” or code-bound criminal – in Russia. The vory are a caste of professional criminals formed in the Soviet gulags of the 1930s. The highest rank is given to men of respect who sit at the top of Russia’s criminal hierarchy, follow the thieves’ common code of ‘law’, and act as unofficial adjudicators of disputes.
“They are dinosaurs, the old Soviet gulag-era crime lords,” says Mark Galeotti, professor at New York University - and expert on the Russian underworld - adding the vory had been steadily giving way to more agile and less principled criminal “authorities” since the fall of Communism.
In 2006, in the only television interview Usoyan ever gave, he said: “I am a pensioner, I live on a pension. I live modestly, I don’t touch anyone, I just mind my own business.”
