Healthcare Alternatives That Might Really Work

Real alternatives for enhancing healthcare options in the U.S. include:

  1. Extending "health care sharing ministries" function to any organization or association, while allowing health savings accounts to pay toward them.
  2. Medicaid block grants directly to states, freeing them to manage the program funds without Federal approval.
  3. Medicaid funds transmitted directly to the needy as HSAs.
And Americans can always purchase international health insurance and receive care through "health tourism" jaunts.

"What's in Texas"

“I don’t know what’s in Texas, but it must be a lot of money, ’cause it’s just not good [to announce] that you’re leaving a state before the caucus ends. Wow, is it not shocking what’s happening to the Clinton campaign?”

Why Green Tea Should Replace Your Coffee

by Amy Johnson

Green tea:
  1. Boosts your metabolism—combine drinking green tea with a healthy lifestyle and you may notice a reduction in your body fat.
  2. Kills bacteria—the catechins in green tea can slow down the growth of streptococcus mutans, the primary harmful bacteria in your mouth, and kill bacteria and inhibit viruses like Influenza, making you healthier.
  3. Lowers your risk of type II diabetes—green tea can improve insulin sensitivity and lower blood sugar levels, which helps to lower the overall risk of developing type II diabetes.
  4. Lowers your risk of getting cancer—antioxidants in green tea help to counteract oxidative damage that can cause cancer, lowering the overall chances of developing cancer.
  5. Lowers your chances of developing Alzheimer’s or Parkinson’s—catechins in green tea have protective effects on neurons, helping them to avoid disease.
  6. Increases your sex drive—L-theanine in green tea acts as a mood booster, increasing dopamine levels in both men and women.
  7. Improves brain function—according to scientists from Newcastle University, green tea helps to keep your brain active and healthy.
  8. Can make you smarter—L-theanine helps to stimulate brain activity, helping your brain be more focused, making you alert, and allowing you to concentrate for longer periods of time.

"No Cost Controls"

“So what’s different this time? Why are we closer than we’ve ever been before? Because there are no cost controls in these proposals. Because this bill’s about coverage. Which is good! Why should we hold 48 million uninsured people hostage to the fact that we don’t yet know how to control costs in a politically acceptable way? Let’s get the people covered and then let’s do cost control.”

"We Are Starving"

"Universally, it was, ‘We are starving. We are hungry. This isn’t enough food for us.’ But we couldn’t blame them, because I looked at that school lunch and said, ‘I wouldn’t eat it either.'"
Jeremy Smith, business manager
Sheridan County District One, Wyoming

"The $6 Million Man"

"The incoming Republican Congress should give this man multiple opportunities to testify on Capitol Hill. In great detail, Jonathan Gruber should explain his views on the intelligence of his fellow Americans, the lies that he and Team Obama perpetrated to enact Obamacare, and how soon he will return to taxpayers his fraudulent $5,886,150 fortune."

"His Name I.D. is 0.00001 Percent"

"Well, it’s hard to tell how much this will penetrate the larger consciousness outside of the beltway and New York. Jonathan Gruber, I’m guessing his name I.D. is 0.00001 percent among most Americans. But it does confirm all the worst suspicions that Republicans had, everything that they’ve been saying about Obamacare, that it was passed on a platform of lies, that Democrats were not transparent in passing this bill. His words, his own words, kind of confirm all of that, so they’ll point to that, and it’s just yet another hurdle in trying to get the numbers back above water for Obamacare."

"Stupidity of the American Voter"

“This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. If CBO scored the mandate as taxes, the bill dies. Okay, so it’s written to do that. In terms of risk rated subsidies, if you had a law which said that healthy people are going to pay in – you made explicit healthy people pay in and sick people get money, it would not have passed . . Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the stupidity of the American voter or whatever, but basically that was really really critical for the thing to pass . . Look, I wish Mark was right that we could make it all transparent, but I’d rather have this law than not.”

"No Health Risk to Vermonters"

"There is extremely low risk . . however we're going to take every precaution . . (he's in a) safe rural location with law enforcement presence . . There is no health risk to Vermonters . . We don't know exactly where he was or what he did."
Peter Shumlin, Governor
Vermont

"Read My Book"

"I’m asking those people who were in contact with infected people — stay at home for 21 days. We will pay. Enjoy your family. Enjoy your kids. Enjoy your friends. Read a book. Read my book. You don’t have to read my book. But stay at home for 21 days."
New York

"60,000 Nurses"

“The EU is doing a better job for us than all British Eurosceptics put together. The extra money being demanded by Brussels - just the extra - would allow us to hire an extra 60,000 nurses and fund their pensions.”

"Real Pleasure in Killing"

"We believe she is sound of mind, but simply took satisfaction, and real pleasure in killing."

Daniela Poggiali, Italian nurse expected in 38 deaths

"The Woman Who Put Others at Risk"

"People are so freaked out about Ebola that the problem NBC has now is that whenever they put her on the air, some news consumers are going to see the woman who put others at risk, rather than the reporter and professional with great experience."

Dr. Nancy Snyderman, NBC News chief medical editor

"Extreme Abundance of Caution"

“At this time, the guest remains in isolation on board the ship and is not deemed to be a risk to any guests or crew. It is important to reiterate that the individual has no symptoms and has been isolated in an extreme abundance of caution.”

"More Intelligent Men"

“If you look at Africa, at the Ebola-stricken nations, the surrounding African nations have forbidden all travel between the nations that are stricken and their own. What does that tell us? That third world dictatorships in Africa are run by more intelligent men than Barack Obama.”

“Since none of the students had symptoms, I’m pretty confident that none of the kids were exposed.”
Dallas school district superintendent
