GODELL: Godelewski|Godeleski|Godelauski|Godeluski

My Great grandfather — born September 8, 1884 in Lithuania — apparently entered the country as "Stanislaw Godell" on June 8, 1907.
  • On September 12, 1918 he completed his World War I draft registration card as "Stanley Godelewski".
  • In the 1920 Federal census his name has been interpreted as "Stanley Godelanski", and his wife's as "Ginlia". Converting the "n" to "u" reverts the last name to "Godelauski" (and her first name to "Giulia", a European form of the "Julia" she becomes later).
  • The 1925 New York State census lists his name as "Stanly Gadelowski".
  • The 1929 Schenectady, New York telephone directory lists the family name as "Godeleski".
  • In the 1930 Federal census the surname is again recorded as "Godelauski", matching the 1935 phone directory listing in Schenectady.
  • The 1940 census lists the family as "Godeluski".
