It might come as no surprise to the rest of the world that a poet would concentrate on love poems, but it might come as quite a shock to those who knew me before that I would.
I needed it, as most men do, to get through a whole set of thoughts and feelings I could not express or work through in any other way.
Now it seems quite normal, natural, and necessary for a poet to focus on love. In fact, that's his very job (isn't it?): to experience love and relay that experience to the rest of us; hopefully imparting greater understanding of what this force is
—
and therefore ability to experience it —
to others.I've now written something on the order of 600 poems, 60% of which relate to love in some fashion. I doubt the 40% would have happened if I hadn't first written about the poet's favorite topic.
