Upcoming Writer Events

End of July, early August is looking pretty active for writing events, including:

• July 27: Back Roads Reading Series in Brownington featuring Judith Chalmer, Michiko Oishi, and Nadell Fishman starting at 3pm in the church (with refreshments afterwards).
• July 29: Diana Whitney reads from her first published poetry collection at the Galaxy Bookshop in Hardwick starting at 7pm.
• August 2: Poetry Society of Vermont Summer Festival at Knoll Farm in Fayston ($10 for non-members). 10:00–12:30 workshop; 12:30-1:30 picnic (bring your own lunch, dessert and beverage provided). Register to read at the Poetry Reading in the Barn (1:30 -3:30pm)—"your own work or a favorite or two by another poet"—with Tamra Higgins on 802/598-0340. 
• August 4: Writer's Night Out at various New Hampshire nightspots starting as early as 5pm (depending on location).
• August 7: A Celebration of the Life in Poetry of Galway Kinnell at State House in Montpelier starting at 3pm.
• August 9: Reading at Catamount Arts from noon-2pm (shifted a week for the PSOV event).
• August 12: Tea and Poetry at St. J House. Refreshments. Listeners welcome. 
• August 12: Julia Shipley reads from her collection of prose, Adam's Mark (Plowboy Press, 2014) and a poetry chapbook, "First Do No Harm" (Honeybee Press, 2014) at the Galaxy Bookshop in Hardwick starting at 7pm.

According to the Barton Public Library website, the poetry workshops held there at 6:30pm on Wednesdays are continuing. A free poetry-writing workshop occurs at Studio 266 in Burlington Monday, July 28 starting at 6:30pm (meetup.com, 383-8104). And DIGPoetry  works are up all over St. Johnsbury through August.
