Redskins vs. Patriots: Beat the Cheating

Redskins Hero Kirk Cousins
The 2015-6 Washington Redskins seem largely overlooked among football fans. This is perhaps fitting given their performance in recent years, not to mention the change at quarterback. Many still imagine the super-goofy RGIII to be the real answer and his substitution, Kirk Cousins, just a temporary move.

That theory, and the seeming blasé attitude toward the 'Skins this year, should take jolts from Mr. Cousins' comebacks this season—last-minute victories over the Eagles and, most spectacularly, the Buccaneers. (He appeared on the way to doing the same to the loss-less Falcons when his receiver tripped.*)

Having watched him come off the bench to overcome an 8-point deficit in 30 seconds vs. the Ravens a couple years back—and seen his mastery over the Browns later that season—I like this guy in the crunch. One Michigan State alum told me he was famous for heartbreak heroics there, too. (That he lets it get to that point I don't so much like, but that may be some college-age stuff that he still needs to grow out of.)

Point is, the only way anyone—other than the ridiculous diehards such as myself—is likely to take Cousins and the Redskins seriously this year is if they beat the Patriots on November 8.

To do that, they'll need to beat the cheating, I'd say.

*The Buccaneers just beat the Falcons 23-20. If A is greater than B, and B is greater than C . .
