"Why Eating Insects Is the Future of Sustainable Food"

The world’s population is projected to reach 9 billion in 2050, but the UN Food and Agriculture Organization predicts that there will be a lack of farmland to meet this demand. They promote insect farms as a less resource-intensive alternative that:
  • Emits fewer greenhouse gases and uses less pesticides than traditional farms.
  • Requires less land as insects convert food into protein more efficiently than livestock.
  • Provides new sources of employment in developing countries where many of the world’s more than 1,900 edible insect species live.
