Party invitations are usually pretty standard. They're basically limited to telling you when and where you will be expected. However, when you're going for professional invitation printing, which is highly customizable, you have the perfect opportunity to put your essence on paper. Your guests will definitely have something to say about it instead of piling it up with the rest.
The key to a poetic invitation is to make it relevant to you and your party. For example, neither try turning a bachelorette party into a literary encounter, nor a senior book club into a zombie apocalypse. If you have an informal event, make a fun poem. If it’s a wedding then the poem should be romantic and so on. Also, think of your guests. If you have the time and you’re throwing an intimate gathering, write a different text for every guest and don’t forget to identify the invitation envelopes.
If you don’t have the poetic vein in your body or simply don’t have the time, look for existing poems on the internet. You can adapt them or just use them as inspiration. Websites like PoetrySoup.com and Problem-free-poetry.com have wide range of poems for you to choose from. Birthdays, weddings, bar mitzvahs, you name it. Let your creativity mark the limit.
Just for fun, here are some examples!
For a Birthday Party
Can’t believe a year ago little Taylor came to us,
our hearts are more than ever filled with joy
and we want all of our dear friends to show up!
Join us at our yard next friday 10th and sing happy birthday to our boy
For a Bachelorette’s Party
I spy with my little eye a little someone’s marrying the guy he likes
Laura is about to say “I Do” and it’s our time to show her a good time
Let’s take her partying one more night and celebrate her time to be the bride
February 13th will be the day and we hope to see you there!
Have fun creating your rhymes, but remember to cover the basics of any invitation:
? Let your guests know who the party is for and when/where it will take place
? If it is a theme party or there are any specific requirements guests should know about in advanced, write it down
? Send your invitations on time to make sure your guests clear their schedules
Let us know how it goes!
