How to Save Money on Last Minute Christmas Gifts

With the stress and rush of the holiday season, sometimes we forget that aunt or cousin who’s visiting in the last minute and we hardly ever see or that good old neighbor who’s going to take care of the dog while we’re visiting our relatives. These are some of those moments when having a stock of personalized photo mugs comes handy.

But which other presents can we get our loved ones without spending that much and saving at the same time?

1. Buy Generic Gifts

Buy presents that may serve any gender and purchase in bulk, such as assorted Christmas candies and treats, a wine box, decorative elements or even gift cards. Combine all these together and make gift bags for last minute presents.

2. Go to Outlets and Second Hand Stores

The same brand sweater you wish to give to your sister in that expensive store is the one you’re going to get in an outlet, just by a fraction of the price. Also, second hand stores are home of some long lost treasures for people with patient enough to spend the right amount of time looking for them.

3. DIY

An original present will always be one hand-made by you. If you posses any manual or designing skill, consider making your own gifts or giving your purchased ones an original presentation.

Canvas photo prints are another creative option, using family photos or making a collage out of different moments is perfect for anyone and serves as a decorative item too.

4. Donate to Charitable Organizations

If you have no time to go shopping so close to Christmas Eve or there’s an organization close to your heart or your beloved ones’, consider donating on behalf of someone else for these holidays. Plus, there are also tax deductible.

5. Take Advantage of Last Minute Online Sales

Most big retail stores keep a sale section on their web pages and others publish discounts on specific items for some days of Christmas. Subscribe by mail to the ones you’re interested in, most of the time they deliver special coupon codes or offers to people on their marketing list.

Take advantage of these tips and save big for your last minute Christmas shopping, instead of starting your new year with lots of debts. Are you planning on putting any of these steps in motion or do you have your own strategies for saving money when buying presents? Let me know your opinion in the comment section.
